Home Alone Studio’s film “Alone With: Hussein" is the first episode of the "Alone With" docu series. The documentary short is an abstract portrait of a mesmerizing contemporary dancer from the Kurdistan region of Iraq. The 24-year-old, Hussein Simko, whose story begins with enduring a lifetime of war, offers a robust, loving energy. It is through dance that Hussein finds glorious escape from violence and loss, and transcends horrific memories to find visions of his lush and mountainous homeland. The film visually dives into the relationship between Hussein and his art. To learn Hussein’s story is to know the human race truly is capable of overcoming adversity.
